About Us

Founded in January 2009, the mission of the Green Collaborative of New Orleans is to unite resources, people and ideas to provide education, influence policy and accelerate sustainable economic and environmental prosperity for the Greater New Orleans.  The collaborative is diverse and includes members from the academic, for-profit, government and non-profit sectors.  As a volunteer run organization, the Green Collaborative is lead by its Chair or Co-Chairs and a Steering Committee.  The current Chair of the Green Collaborative is Beth Galante of Global Green.  Members of the Steering Committee are Brittney Everett (Concordia), Dan Jatres (Regional Planning Commission), Forest Bradley-Wright (Alliance for Affordable Energy), Jeanne Nathan (Creative Industries), John Moore (City of New Orleans), Lea Keel (Sustainable Environmental Enterprises), Linda Stone (Global Green), Liz Shephard (LifeCity), Mary-jo Webster, Perry Booth (Phoenix Recycling), Phyllis Jordan (The Green Project), Stacey Danner (Sustainable Environmental Enterprises), Steve Picou (LSU AgCenter), Tilman Hardy (CORE USA), Tony Laska (Conservation Services Group) and Z Smith (Eskew+Dumex+Ripple).

Membership is open to any organization in the academic, for-profit, government or non-profit sectors that support our mission and vision.  Any organization interested in joining the collaborative, must submit a request for membership form located here.  Members are encouraged to participate in quarterly general membership meetings and ongoing work groups and to support networking efforts that keep us connected and help to build a greener New Orleans.

The Green Collaborative of New Orleans has had much success in its first two years.  Today, more than 80 academic, for-profit, government and non-profit organizations have joined and supported the collaborative.  Through generous funding from the Surdna Foundation, the collaborative undertook an intensive strategic planning session in 2010 that helped guide the structure and future work of the collaborative.  Finally, the collaborative has been successful in releasing powerful platforms including the “Green Mayoral Platform for New Orleans’ Next Mayor and City Council” for the 2010 elections as well as the “Declaration of Energy Independence” following the BP oil spill.

Below is the organizational chart for the collaborative.
